Two first half goals and a red card for the home side saw Halifax see out York in a thrilling match.

Just before the break, Halifax regained the lead as Sam Finch became provider for Ruben Bartkiw as he put it past the keeper, taking the lead into halftime.

York started pushing to level the tie in the second half, with the Halifax keeper keeping the away side in the game, after a quality one on one save.

In the 65th minute, the game was taken away from York as one of their players lost their head inside the penalty area and punched an opposition player, resulting in a penalty and a red card. Barney Wiggin extended the lead.

The game fizzled out in the last 20 minutes, as Halifax had the extra man.
