A second half winner saw Gateshead take all three points as FC Halifax Town's U19ss were defeated.

Town have started the season in the Alliance North Division brightly winning their first two games of the season against Hartlepool and South Shields but have suffered defeat to a strong opposition.

The first half saw Gateshead take a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute.

It didn’t take long for a response from the away side as centre-back Fin Blenkinsop levelled the match in the 30th minute.

The game went into the break with the two sides even at 1-1.

Both sides were pushing to find a winner in the second half, but it was Gateshead who managed to break the deadlock for the second time in the 63rd minute.

This goal is what split the two sides in a tough match for Town who deserved more out of the game, but a 2-1 defeat is how it ends.

FC Halifax Town U19s travel to York on September 24th to face York City.
